Common fig in Amwell Street, EC1 in Islington

There is one common fig (Ficus carica) in Amwell Street, EC1 in Islington (county of Greater London).

The girth was measured in 2010 by Steve Waters for the Ancient Tree Hunt of the largest of this line of very old-looking figs which lean drunkenly across the school playground. Clerkenwell is one of the most densely-built areas of London, with few trees.

The girth of the tree, measured at a height of 1.50 m, is 1.49 m (2010, TheTreeRegisterOwenJohnson). As this tree is a tree with multiple trunks, the girth can be larger than what would be expected of the tree of this age. Its height is around 9 m (2010, Estimate based on experience, TheTreeRegisterOwenJohnson).
