Grand fir (Abies grandis) "4726"

Kyloe Wood, picture by Conifers, 2011-09-16

Abies grandis 57m tall. Not an easy tree to photograph, due to poor light in dense forest, and the base is cut off by the slope. The image is also brightened and enhanced a bit in photoshop.

Giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) "4729"

Kyloe Wood, picture by Conifers

Sequoiadendron giganteum forestry plot in Kyloe Wood. The tallest found (48m tall, tree '4729'), is the second full trunk from the right; the other trees range from 40-47m tall.

Western larch (Larix occidentalis) "4730"

Kyloe Wood, picture by Conifers

Tallest Larix occidentalis in Britain (and probably Europe), 33m tall. Note: this image is also posted on Wikimedia Commons.

Leyland cypress (Cupressus × leylandii) "4731"

Yes, this monster with a metre-diameter trunk is the same thing that is sold by the millions for hedges in small urban gardens ;-)
